If you are looking for a new wardrobe or perhaps new bedroom furniture then this guide is for you. I take a look at anything and everything to do with pine wardrobes from the benefits through to the different sizes and designs.
I use real examples from companies like The Cotswold Company and Furniture 123 to show you how the different sizes and designs of wardrobes can be used in different ways and what part pine plays. Let us start by asking why choose pine?
Why Choose Pine?
There are a couple of major benefits of pine that come together to offer some really lovely wardrobes. Firstly there is the look. There is something about pine. There is a warmth to the look which is extremely popular with people.
Add to that the fact that it is an affordable wood and peoples interest increases further. Pine is cheaper because it is so widely available. It is easier to work with increasing the demand. With many sustainable forests these days pine is abundant and thus the price is lower.
Finally although not as strong as oak pine still has plenty of strength in it. It has more than enough strength to hold your clothes. Oak is stronger but it doesn’t need to be that strong – pine is plenty strong enough.
Any one of these benefits is good but when they combine together they produce some wonderful furniture. As you will see below taking into account the different methods of assembly, the different sizes and different designs pine wardrobes are a real plus to nay bedroom.
Flat Packed, Part or Fully Assembled?
Pine wardrobes come in many shapes and sizes but one of the first things to consider is how do you want the wardrobe assembled? There are three options
1. Flat Packed
2. Part Assembled
3. Fully Assembled
If your budget it tight and you don’t mind getting down on the floor to do some screwing and hammering then a flat packed wardrobe might be the better option.
Officially flat packed furniture is made from MDF which means Medium Density Fibreboard. I like to see it as the processed food of the furniture world – it manufactured, its cheap but isn’t as good. Natural solid wood is better although more expensive.
There is definitely a place for flat packed wardrobes though. Many peoples needs for storage far exceed their budget. When this happens the flat packed option is best.
You will need to screw it, hammer it and generally assemble each and every part but that is the trade off of it being so cheap.
A step up from flat packed are part assembled wardrobes. You still need to assemble these but instead of assembling each and every component part you will simply need to bolt the base to the sides, front, back and top. A wardrobe can be as sew as six sections.
These are far better quality though made of real pine wood that is amazingly solid. The price is higher but you get what you pay for. I own the Langley Pine Gents Double and have done for a few years. It is as good today as it was when I bought it.
Part assembled pine wardrobe should be seen as an investment. It has the convenience of a flat packed with the quality of a quality fully assembled wardrobe.
It is often thought that fully assembled wardrobes are of a superior quality. That is true if you are comparing to an MDF made Flat Packed unit that comes in a couple of boxes. Fully assembled are normally of a higher quality but they do have a major down side.
If the wardrobe is delivered fully assembled it can be difficult and sometimes impossible to actually get to your bedroom. This is particularly the case for wide doubles and triples. This is why I usually recommend a part assembled. As I said above all the quality but with the benefit that you can actually get it to your bedroom.
Pine Wardrobe Sizes
Pine Wardrobes come in a number of different sizes based around how many doors they have – Single, Double, Triple.
Single Wardrobes are great for small tight gaps of for rooms with a low need for storage such as a guest bedroom. Pine is perfect for single wardrobes as you can see from the Corona 1 Door Wardrobe below. Single door wardrobes are typically full hanging but some models do have a drawer in the base or a shelf above the hanging rail. This just depends from range to range.
Double Wardrobes have two doors and a number of different designs. The number of designs is greater than a one door model. They often come with drawers which can range from one through to three or four. They rarely have shelves but if they do it is above the hanging rail like the singles – see the Hamilton Pine Double Wardrobe and Oakley Pine Gents Double Wardrobes below.
Triple Wardrobes are the largest and most varied in design. They can have come with any number of drawers. Some will have shelves but this is usually behind one of the doors rather than above the hanging rail. Some will have both shelves behind a door and drawers although most have one of the other – See the Hamilton Pine Triple Wardrobe and the Berrington Pine Triple Wardrobes below.
Where to Buy Pine Wardrobes
There are two main retailers that we recommend – The Cotswold Company and Furniture 123. We recommend them both because they sell very different types of wardrobes.
The Cotswold Company – Visit Site
Having personally purchased pine wardrobes from the Cotswold Company I can say with confidence that the product you get is of the highest standard. They sell much more than just pine wardrobes. There are a number of furniture ranges for the whole bedroom and the whole house. They are made from solid wood and in most cases are pre-assembled. On top of top quality solid wood furniture they offer a number of great additions. For a start they have a number of delivery times including the evening and Saturday mornings. They have a packaging removal service, a assembly service and finance on most items.
Furniture 123 – Visit Site
We are aware that many people do not have the budget to buy solid wood furniture no matter how much they may want to. For this reason we recommend Furniture 123 (see wardrobes below). These wardrobes are more affordable but still offer a great level of storage. If you are on a budget then Furniture 123 has a number of options you will love. They too offer furniture for the whole bedroom and home and they have a number of delivery services. We recommend them to anyone who needs large storage without the large price.

The only thing we find a little strange is it has less drawers than the double shown above.

Seconique Panama Solid Pine 2 Door Wardrobe
The wardrobes recommended above are all amazing models but what if you don’t have the budget that high? Well then check out the Seconique Panama Solid Pine Wardrobe. This is a very simple and very effective two door wardrobe that offers exactly what you need it to – hanging rail storage.
The wardrobe is of simple design. It has a hanging rail with a small shelf above. It is narrow measuring just 80 cm in width and is shallow at 50 cm but this just helps it to fit into small bedrooms. The height is 175 cm which is again lower than many wardrobes but this is because it doesn’t come with drawers.
The wardrobe is flat packed and will need assembling once it has been unpacked. Instructions are provided. Although all the parts are included you will need your own tools. While this may not seem ideal this is ultimately what helps keep the price down. This is after all a relatively cheap pine wardrobe.
